I just looked at BDL-VCE on United's site. On May 26, I got no availability in Business. There is US airways availability in Coach, BDL-PHL and PHL-VCE, but not business.

Interestingly, US Airways' site gives me no low-level availability in coach that day. This may seem strange, but there is a reason. It's due to transfer times. United suggested US2051, which arrives in PHL at 832 AM, then US714 leaves PHL 10 hours later at 645 PM. This is a legal connection on an international award, BUT US Airways apparently believes that people wouldn't want it and only offers connections of roughly 6 hours or less.

The "big lesson" is to generally use the United site to look for low level awards, even for US Airways options. It generally gives more ideas. However, don't trust United's monthly calendar at the top of the screen. I find that even though the day might be White, there frequently are Saver awards involving partners. Scroll through the page.

And ... I haven't flown Swiss since 2010, but I thought it was fine then. It's certainly better than coach, Zurich is a nice airport, and the flight times look good to me.
