He then went away and came back about 3 minutes later, saying this:

Shawn: Thank you for your patience in holding. We apologize that we are unable to give you a final decision today. You will be receiving a letter or email from us within a week requesting additional information to verify your address. The letter will be requesting a copy of your residential phone bill, dated within the past 60 days, stating your name, mailing address and phone number. Cellular phone bills are not acceptable. If you do not have a land line phone, you could also send a copy of an utility bill (water, cable, electric or sewer), a credit card statement, or a bank statement that must be dated within the past 60 days, and state your name and mailing address. This information can be sent prior to receiving the letter and can be mailed to PO Box 6495, Sioux Falls, SD 57117-6495, faxed to 1-866-706-5137 or emailed to [email protected]. Please place the following reference number on the top of each document (XXXXX).

I went ahead and sent the e-mail immediately, and actually called the reconsideration line, but they told me it would take 24-48 hours to process before the application could be considered again.

Context about me: ~750 credit score, under 25, $75k income, with 20+ outstanding cards, all within the past 2 years. 2 AA Citi cards and 2 HHonors Citi cards currently active. No other cards with Citi. Haven't applied for a Citi card since December/January. Last hard pull was <30 days ago for the Lufthansa Barclays card.

Hope that helps.
I called back today and was approved! They wanted to shift some credit from my other Citi cards, so he gave me the option of which cards to move credit from. The rep listed off my four Citi cards, which was a little awkward, considering two of them are the two AA cards that I already have! Either way, he was cool with it. Total credit with Citi now stands at $37k, a $2k bump from before.

Just to reiterate, the recon. people can clearly see the other Citi cards you have, including the other AA cards, but my CSR didn't seem to care a bit.
