There is nothing wrong with SAA's hard or soft product. I was on an A330 an A340-300 and an A340-600 and all had hard product which was just as good if not better than AC. Wife liked the J seats better than AC. And my info is recent... I literally got off a SA A340 earlier today.
There is one A340 that apparently get subbed in which isnt upgraded. You can check out a couple of threads over in the African forum on the topic.
That's what I'm saying. Watch out for the
tired 340s. The 343s and 346s are fine (seat pitch is 33/34") but the 342s are deadly. I enjoyed it twice from GRU to JNB, and swore I'd never touch that route again unless they bring in new gear.
... and maybe they're down to one. Which doesn't help if you end up sitting in it.
