Interesting discussion. My brother flew back to SFO yesterday after the OAK flights from HNL was delayed... no idea how he made it across the bay but I will have to check. It could be quite problematic if you flight lands @11pm or later as the last trains leave @11:30pm (a little later from downtown SF and Oakland).

Traffic is pretty bad today due to the BART strike.

In general I would take the charter bus (much faster) which presumably will use the San Mateo bridge, unless you are going 4-6pm. I go across this bridge all the time to catch morning flights at SFO, rarely backed up. BART bus to OAK BART takes some time, plus waiting time for the train, plus connection to another train - it will easily exceed an hour unless the stars line up for you.

What are the issues? We get the news reports not the real deal from the major
players so I'm not taking sides. As for the subject? If Bart is not an option I
would rather get a neighborhood shuttle to SFO. (Around $65.00) and be done with it
Overpaid BART slackers average $70k/year plus OT plus an average of 40 days off (not including vacation) where they just call in and don't show up. The union has demanded a 23% raise over 4 years, mgmt upped its offer to 8%. Both sides taking a hard line today so this may last a while, particularly as there are fewer commuters this holiday week (many on vacation) so less traffic. Note I am a former union steward but we never had benefits like
these guys (or slacker jobs manning station booths).
