UA MileagePlus account - Negative Balance
I have a problem. I got a phone message from UA mileageplus department on Friday saying my account has a negative balance. He will cancelled my upcoming trip which will be next Wednesday if I do not call him back immediately. I really do not appreciate got a message like this on Friday and my trip is next Wednesday.
I immediately called UA but I can not reach him because he only left a general number. They transferred me several times and finally I was told my reservation is good, I do not have to worry about negative balance. About one hour later, I received an email from the same person who left message, he is a director of UA mileage plus. Again, he did not left his direct line to call. I can only communicate with him via email. In his email, he says if I do not transfer miles immediately, he will cancelled my trip and at the same time, he has already suspend my account so I can not log in. I emailed him back and said I just spoke to Ms. J. from Chicago location and was told my reservation is good. I asked him why my account is negative. He claim I made a reservation in May and that is the trip I do not have enough miles. How could I make a reservation if I do not have enough miles in the account and result a negative balance in the account. Mileage plus account is not like credit card account. This is ridiculous! I email him back and told him I NEVER made any reservation in May. He replied my email, indicating the reversion I made in May (which I never did) is the upcoming trip for next Wednesday! I booked my upcoming trip last year ! Then he is off duty, never replied my email. I worried about my upcoming trip, I called UA back in the evening, found out he had already transferred miles from my wife's account to cover my negative balance. No body authorized him to do that. It seemed like UA does not communicate with each other! One rep. just told you one hour ago then the other depart will threaten to cancel your trip and suspend your account. What a pain!
