Some older kids will already have gadgets but that's not really the argument here. Some families do not let their kids travel to foreign shores with their phones for reasons I can understand (cost of turning the bloody thing on and receiving data for instance).
On oceanic flights (the flights that matter IMO) the Rouge system is compatible with
less than half of the mobile devices available on the market today. And of the devices it is compatible with none can be recharged in flight unless the owner brings his/her own portable power. Most kids do not have this capability.
IFE may be a relatively new thing but it certainly is something customers look for and in this regard Rouge is simply not competitive with its stated competitor Air Transat. Nor is it competitive with AC mainline. This is the argument.
