The date as well as flight times are all there. They just aren't on the front side. Tap the little "i" in the lower right corner and you'll find more information on the back side of the BP.
Thanks I hadn't noticed that. Though that's not very convenient when showing your phone at security checkpoints without scanners (e.g. UK, Germany).
The LH passbook BP has:
gate, seat, origin, destination, flight number, date, boarding time, class, name and status. The United one has
gate, origin, destination, boarding time, flight number, seat, sequence number, group, name and status. Bolding indicates larger onscreen items.
Two differences in LH favour: firstly the seat number is easier to find, secondly the date is on the front of the BP. Why on earth did UA think sequence number was more important than travel date?
