I know it might get me banned from this board, if you are looking for something lively, you might also consider the W Ft Lauderdale. It is just up the street from the RC (and is the home of Steak 954). I've stayed both here and the RC multiple times. Of course, if you despise Ws, then read no further. But, if you want a livelier option, it is worth considering.

The hotel is relatively new, and rooms and bathrooms are at the nicer end of the W spectrum.

The hotel has a Gerber bar (very lively), but even the lobby bar, which includes a large outside area, is pretty active. Both much more so than the Ritz.

The pools at the W are open 24 hours a day - versus the RC, which closes at sundown. Depending on your schedule (and interest in a swim), this could be an important factor.
