I've heard of the Huawei unlocked mobile wifi devices, but is it possible to just buy a contract free device from any carrier in the US (like AT&T, Virgin, etc) and unlock that for international use?
I need a mobile wifi device that will work internationally (Canada, Europe, Asia, and South America mainly) with prepaid simcards from those countries. I've rented before and like it, but it seems more cost effective to just own one and get sim cards every time? I usually travel alone with my MBA and iPhone and need the wifi mainly for work emails, maps, and food recs.
Thanks!
If you can get your iPhone unlocked, I would just use that as a mobile hotspot or tether with your MBA. Easier than carrying around another gadget!
