Following up on my original posts and this thread - I didn't get into LAX until after 3 AM (on Wednesday AM) so this is my first opportunity to collect my thoughts and respond.

My thanks to all who responded to my original post and the subsequent posts.

The specific aircraft for my ORD-LAX flight did not change throughout the day and was the one that was identified in flight status info - an Airbus A320.

As noted, 7D did eventually show as open so the cleanup jobs did their work. I was also able to confirm with goodeats21's method of requesting a copy of my receipt that I was officially in 21D - though it take over 2 hours for the e-mail to make it to me after submitting my request.

Other items of note:
  • About 5 hours after I received my receipt copy and 7 hours since the second "Elite Upgrade Notification" e-mail, I received my third e-mail entitled the same. However, in this e-mail, I was for real upgraded - this time to 2B.
  • Almost 5 hours later, I received a FT private message from UA Insider asking if I'd be willing to provide specifics so that they would be able to research it.
  • Had to switch my original IND-ORD flight to an earlier flight given all the problems in the midwest WRT thunderstorming activity if I were to make it to ORD (and hopefully seat 2B) in time - which I won't detail here but could be another thread as well.
  • When I arrived at the B7 gate in ORD for my ORD-LAX flight, the seat map display was showing that 2B was open, I wasn't listed as upgraded - as well as the original departure time which was already 1+ hours wrong when I got to the gate. The extremely helpful gate agent confirmed that I was indeed in 2B and that the displays were not current. Some time in the next hour did the displays update and then show that 2B was occupied, I was on the upgrade list and in 2B and that we were going to leave even later than my last notification.

FWIW, I've PMed my info to UA Insider for them to use for their research. Let's see what happens.

Also, would love to hear if others (especially Silvers) were receiving these "Elite Upgrade Notification" e-mails on Wednesday, June 25th as well and/or if others have seen this over the past two days also.

David
