I can't comment on tour companies, but it's a lot cheaper to take the train. Plus it will be on your own schedule so you could stay longer or leave sooner.

They were having a controlled burn south of the Blue Mountains the day we were there so the smoke from the fire made everything hazy. Needless to say we cut our day shorter than we had intended.
