Besides - how much money would you save, a few 100 if that?
Right, I wasn't saying anything about the money...it's more about the principle, but especially the fact that if I booked a Y ticket for myself, I would get miles for that ticket instead of the $$$ for the 'privilege' of having my baby sit on my lap...

For a random itin:
IAD-BRU (direct UA flight) 24-27 October 2013
10% of full fare (C, with no surcharges): US$783
Cheapest Y Ticket: US$1048

So in this case, it would actually cost me US$265, but I think it would be worth it to get the EQM and RDM, but as said before - for the principle of the matter and the fact that we would technically have 3 seats on the plane.

Has anyone done this...it makes perfect sense (at least to me) and theoretically is 'against the rules'???
