I'm still trying to understand the rules, as I will be booking an award ticket in J to CMB from WAS. I understand that no overnight stopovers are allowed. Okay, but how do they define overnight? For example, at LAX most flights to Asia leave between 10pm and 2am. So does that mean a connection in LAX with a departure at 11:59 pm is okay, but one that leaves at 12:01 am is a no go? Also, given that there is only one flight a day to CMB from potential gateway cities (from IST on TK, from SIN on SQ, and from BKK, on TG), a 8 hour layover limit really hampers the available routings.
