I have a ticket in J booked through Cathay Pacific - MAN-LHR-HKG and back. This morning the agent (Expedia) e:mailed me with a ticketing change - the first segment on BA metal had been downgraded to economy.

They then rang me to ask if I would accept an earlier flight in business - which I accepted. The flight was changed.

Later on the last segment (BA metal) was downgraded (LHR-MAN).

I'm now thinking that this is more to do with BA domestic not having a business cabin - as I know. In this scenario I would normally expect an economy bucket but a UK Business boarding card allowing lounge access.

The booking bucket I was downgraded to was K.

Can anyone help clear my confusion around this?

Many thanks.

There is indeed no business class on UK domestic flights, as long as your LHR-HKG flights are still in business, I wouldn't worry.
