Any airlines issue credit for flexible ticket ?

Hi

I have limited exprience with full flexiable flight tickets.

right now I have an opportunity to buy a flight ticket up to 3000 USD .

but the company which will pay for my travel buy this ticket from a travel agency.

I never bought a flight ticket which is more than 1200USD ( which was to auckland).

so I guess I can make 2 flight ticket out of one by buying flexiable flight ticket .

my question is , can I buy a flexiable ticket to return it to airline credit so that I can buy 2 different ticket ? but I should not contact the agency at all.

so airline should allow it to me as a passenger ?

if yes, from your expriences which airlines could be more friendly for this case ? some of them forward me to agency , which I really dont like :-(

it can be any reputable airline on the earth:-))
