Simple Question:

2 Adults and 1 Infant on an International Trip

I'd like to book an award trip in C for two passengers and have the baby as a lap infant.

Instead of paying the Full-Fare C price to add the infant on the Award trip, will it be possible (and acceptable) to purchase a revenue ticket in Y and then, once on board, sit in C with said baby and leave the Y seat unoccupied?

Naturally, this booking does the following:
1. Pays for the revenue seat in Y instead of the 'opportunity' for the baby to sit on our lap in C.
2. Accrues miles for one adult's ticket in Y
3. Two Awards in C (same miles needed anyway) with one of them being an adult and the other the infant [possibly listed as an 'adult' on ticketing?] and the single revenue ticket is for the other adult.

Thanks in advance - I was just thinking and i'd rather be getting some miles and pay a little bit more to the airline than just pay solely for the lap infant and basically get 'nothing' in return.

You simply need to call and add the infant as a lap child in C. You will have to pay the 10% of the full fare price for this to happen. The cost will probably be around the same as a Y fare.
