compare apples to apples, YVR-YYZ is what, 4-4.5 hours depending on time of year and season.

compare your US airline options of flights like this - i.e. don't compare a LGA YYZ flight and say, see, AA has nothing or look, the MD80 fleet has nothing. compare transcons with AA, US or others....then suggest that US carriers are not better.

actually, as much as i despise them and cost was...surprise surprise the same...AC's options would have been WAY better and FREE!!! now, i did not want to put $$ into AC's pocked but perhaps I should have. i do not collect aeropesos but was content with live TV that I have had on my WS flights to date...

yes, MD'80s are awful but unlike what appears to be the case with WS, AA is putting better and complementary IFE into its fleet....so even its basic 737s have some IFE option and their newer 737 fleet has much better options than WS and they are rolling out FREE tablets on certain trans con flights.

oh, and that new seat in the new 737-800LR, big deal. seemed like the pitch was worse than the 737-600....

now, perhaps you can advise what is meant by this "WestJet has introduced tablet rentals as we transition to our new inflight entertainment system in 2013." does it mean they are going to go to pay tabs? i think so since why get new planes without IFE fitted...that is unless there is no intention of them being fitted with IFE in seat?

either way, shame on me for not doing my diligence to realize that WS appears to be going to a monetize IFE model or that certain flights do not have any IFE other than pay per use...

oh the horror and the AC fan boys will roast me for this, but perhaps i should have just flown with AC.
