Totally irrelevant since you are staying in France.... Some countries do things differently.

You cannot even book a single room when entering 2 adults and 2 children unless you get one of the suites.....so you must have booked for fewer people and are now blaming the hotel?

Pay the extra for the big suite as suggested by the concierge, it's a generous offer and enjoy the room and the free extra's.
