Hear you both ways - I too have seen both.

Just got back from the Concierge Lounge. I printed my passes and my ORD-LAX pass is 21D as I wanted. Also to note that 7D now shows empty - so there is some cleanup going on behind the scenes.

Let's see if a) any of this holds and b) if I get any more of those "Elite Upgrade Notification" e-mails.
