My family and I went online yesterday and ordered some plane tickets from Billund (BLL), Denmark to Orlando (MOC), Florida via. Frankfurt, Germany with US Airlines. When we had paid the tickets we got the information that the second flight from Frankfurt to Orlando had a plane change in Charlotte/Douglas (KCLT). We did not get this information before we had ordered the tickets, if we did we would have ordered some other tickets. But now when we got the tickets (witch are non refundable), we have to get the best of it.

We are a little concerned about how this kind of "direct flight" works because we really can't find any information online about it. This is the “direct flight” as the call it: http://de.flightaware.com/live/flight/AWE707

My question to you is how the plane change takes place? When we come from Europe do we have to go through customs in Charlotte/Douglas before we change plane to Orlando, or do we go through customs when we get to Orlando?

We are a bit concerned that we will miss our flight in Charlotte if we have to go through customs before we go to Orlando.
