It is a good hike to the Historic District especially on a hot humid summer day. There are sidewalks and you can walk along the river down to the battery but it is a good hike. You walk past a couple of marinas and then at the CG station you can either follow the water or head into other parts of Historic District. The hotel has shuttle service ($5/pp for entire day) that is pretty good with the exception it can be overcrowded on the return during peak times. One way cab for 2 is around $10 with tip i think.

Breakfast offering is not bad usually eggs, meat nice fruit and a good bread selection, cereals and juice. That was during the week though so with the new weekend offering I am not sure.
