Been to both many times. When I can afford it or have the Starwood points, the St Regis is my first choice without a doubt!

P.S. Accommodations aside, the Ritz is in a somewhat seedy area of Ft Lauderdale Beach across the street from the beach. St. Regis, right on the beach, across the street from the world renowned Bal Harbour shops.
