We often carry instruments and if my daughter's guitar doesn't fit overhead, the FA has always put it in the closet. And that is on domestic flights. As you know there is more room on TATL flights.
I might be able to put you in touch with a musician in DUB who could store a box/suitcase for you. I will most likely see him Thursday as I pass through DUB.
