Avios redemptions on AS can only be done by phone.

Avios redemptions on AA (such as SLC-LAX-OGG) can be done at ba.com, but you might have to search for -- and book -- each leg separately, as ba.com sometimes has problems displaying connecting-flight award itineraries on AA metal.
