I was there yesterday as well and it was pretty fun.
Impressed by the scale of the terminal - certainly is comparable to some of the nicer international airports in the world.
Of course, it must be a bit of a downer for folks with onward connections, particularly if they head over to T1 or T2
I think when the TBIT-T4 connector is finished, that walkway will be like a time machine... taking you from 1950s to 2010s.
BTW, based on a short discussion I had with someone who worked on the project, the next step after the opening of Westfield LAX and the west side gates on south concourse will be to demolish the east side gates (existing TBIT gates facing T4). A new east side south concourse and the T4 connector will be constructed and integrated with the new west gates.
