Maybe building your own hard case would be an option? Look for a large, used piece of hard luggage, then cut some foam to fit inside to cushion the instrument? Heck, if you can find a hardsided bag that will fit your soft case inside it, you could probably just stuff the empty space with bubble wrap and be fine.
