Go for it then. If you have to gate check it so be it. I don't think it will really have an issue fitting on anything except the last domestic 763 flight. The overheads on those airplanes are, I believe, the original ones from when they were delivered a ways back and only really hold standard suitcases sideways. It's there that you might run into an issue but otherwise it should be able to fit. Good luck!
