IME, the luggage wrap was expensive - I think I priced it out at $12 one time. Way too pricey for me to do on a regular basis, and it may or may not be available at the OP's originating and destination airports.

Unfortunately, if you're flying out of the US, the pac-safe mesh may not be a reliable option for a checked bag. If for any reason TSA wants to open your checked bag, they might cut the mesh to for access. Otherwise, I would have suggested using the mesh around the contents (not the exterior) of the suitcase. Cheaper than plastic wrap over time, and if someone does get into the bag, they'll realize they have to take virtually the entire contents at one go, no picking and choosing.

FWIW, when I went to SA, I took an old duffel that had a heavy duty metal zipper. Metal zippers can't be resealed like nylon/plastic ones.
