Sorry you had a bad attitude purser, not good for F travellers, and the Oh God comment is totally out of order, people pay money to sit in those seats not to have somebody make a comment like that. Food i must say looked good, but has been commented before the tasting menu on F QF is superb done it many times. Let us hope that BA when their A380 comes on board they will take advice from QF and do a superb tasting menu themselves. Looking forward to 2nd installment. Oh yes, loved the socks.
Thanks for your great comments BA5E. Yes, the food in the F lounge was excellent, as was the wine. It's always a treat to get a visit. The setting of the spa was great but the treatment really should have been longer. I am really looking forward to be able to experience QF F one day, and the tasting menu!

Thank you! I've just ordered a new batch of socks. They'll be sure to amuse my work colleagues over the coming weeks.

The food really lacks any 'luxury' or excitement. Interestingly, no real nod or acknowledgement that the flight is going to Singapore, so one might have expected some Chinese/Malayan options.

Chuck in a bit of 'attitude' from your 'dedicated cabin crew...' and it does look and feel more Business Class Plus than true First. Take the seating for example - don't get me wrong, I do like the new(ish) cabin - but in terms of space and privacy, CX and even AA are moving to similar seating in their J cabins.
You are right about the menu, it is rather fishy. Interestingly, on the way back the amuse bouche and the starter were practically the same (both smoked salmon). I agree about having an Asian influence on the food, but I suppose that BA are counting on the fact that most passengers are going to the UK. On HKG routes there's always an Asian option on the menu.

I've flown the CX seat and it is very good, but it's not as spacious as the BA F seat.

There is only the pair in row 4 available right now so I'm thinking just stay put and hope those two seats remain empty so that we could sit in them to share a meal? Or are they not even that great for a couple?

2) Did you use a flash for your photos? I recently got my first SLR camera and don't think I'd need flash (nor will I want to use it on the plane) since its pretty good in low light but was wondering what you used.
Thanks terpfan101. It will be impossible to talk to each other during the flight when you are seated at the window seats, so a pair is better for a couple. Leaving at that time of night, most people will want to sleep so you might well be the only ones dining. You can eat together at any seat, as one person is able to use the buddy seat in the foot area. The table is long enough for two people

No, I never use flash on board as it's too distracting for other people. I have a Nikon D800 which is excellent at high ISO. I also have a very fast lens f2.8 and a reasonably steady hand so I'm able to capture low light photos without using flash.

Me too. It's a great feature but I'm sure it takes a lot of effort and cost to maintain.

Thanks JohnnyP. I use a Nikon D800 with 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 lenses. I use Adobe Lightroom 4 to edit and process my photos.

where the flipping heck are the warm scones, jam and Cornish Clotted Cream ?
I agree although unfortunately it's not listed as afternoon tea on the menu, just 'refreshments'.

Perhaps the majority of passengers only transit in Singapore and are actually travelling to London.

Thanks snowymt, yes, it's a fantastic lounge ^.

Thanks FlyingFox. Yes, it's listed on the menu as 'refreshements'.

Oh dear, that's really not good. It's possible that you might have had the same crew that I had going SYD-SIN.

That's an extremely good tip!

Another good point. When I booked there were at least 3 award seats available on each leg.

Cathay fit 7 rows of their business class where BA have 4 rows and a loo in their F
Yes, the CX seat is definitely smaller but still very comfortable. It's also not as private as the BA F seat.

Thank you SFO777. I'm planning to print them out and put them on my wall. I'm very pleased with them since they were taken without a tripod, just me balancing the camera on the railing at the edge of the bar.

The extra large wardrobe is a definite bonus, but then when you've got one whole overhead locker to yourself it's not too much of an issue I suppose.

I wonder how long in advance one has to get to the SYD lounge to get a 50 minute massage???
Thanks worldtraveller73. Well, I arrived at about 11.30 and the first appointment was at 1.30, so I'd think that you'd stuggle. However, Qantas allows it's First Class passengers to pre-boo, which means that you've got a better chance of getting an appointment. No such service for non-Qantas passengers though.

I ended up spending $5 at the Pinnacle @ Duxton in Chinatown. I posted about that in my star alliance trip report. Sorry about the shameless plug but I'll post a link in my report to this one.
Thanks CDKing. I need to take a look at your report! I actually looked at the New Majestic Hotel as it was featured on a programme here about a week before I flew out.

I suppose that it must be a cultural thing. For me, thick towels = comfortable and expensive, thin = cheap.

Well, it's a small hotel anyway, only 100 rooms. Breakfast was quite busy. I suppose that most people were out in the city. I also tend to be quite good at avoiding other people where I can!
