Foreign transaction fees, while annoying, are definitely not
the issue with errors like this. Having a ticket issued in the incorrect currency can require a manual reissue before an agent can assist with an IROP or SDC, usually accompanied by phone calls and long holds with their international pricing/reissue desk. I've had a handful domestic tickets priced in CAD/EUR for seemingly random reasons, and I've never been able to make a same-day change, for any reason, without dealing with this problem.
If you notice within 24 hours that your receipt does not display the correct currency, cancel and rebook.
