Some fare codes (low economy fare) won't let you choose a seat. They will let you select the seat but you will get the circle rotating forever.
If you call them, they will check the fare code, if is the cheap/low fare you will not able to select any seat
That happened to me right after the big change (to Sabre), but now the page says I can't select before the seat chart page. Better that way to avoid confusions
