Sometimes the line at the bag drop counter is huge because there's too many people in it, too few stations open, or too few employees.

It's totally possible that one check in or the other will have a much shorter line.

In an elite heavy hub, it's possible the regular check in will have a line considerably shorter than the PA checkin area, but many of the PA people would never move to the regular person line.

If you have a choice, pick the shortest line.
