My experience is already a few years ago, but I was disappointed with the lack of platinum benefits. One of our three rooms was given a better view than booked (of the street, rather than the interior) and I got one welcome drink. That was it. No breakfast, no lounge, no welcome gift.

Some hotels do, especially ones in Asia, check out this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/le-cl...er-thread.html. Unfortunately there is no consistency across the brand.
