Yeah, what he said. next time you are on a flight look at how many seats the overhead spans and then mentally divide the space by that number. If we were all limited to one sixth of a bin, hardly anyone's bag would fit except maybe a briefcase or a purse - surely not a rollerboard.
Which is exactly why I bring something that takes up no more than my fair share of the bin, and then I put it up there. I think if you bring a big rollaboard onto the plane then you know the gamble you're taking.
