He didn't say anything about a weight limit, he said "nothing larger".
Weight limit might be an issue or maybe not, depending on the airline. We don't know. That's why I mentioned it.
A soft MLC size bag will hold a lot of stuff and might be heavier than 8kg. But if they don't weigh it, your chances of getting it on the plane are much larger than anything wheeled, not to mention a 26" suitcase.
Of course, the moment you decide to hand or shoulder carry the ten percent body weight rule comes into effect. So much more than 10kg is not recommended anyway unless it's a backpack. But even that gets cumbersome.
As a young man (and foolish) I took a 20kg backpack to India. Bad idea. Half way through the trip I sent half of my stuff home. The rest of the trip was much nicer.
