And they are DEBIT cards, not gift cards, despite whatever marketing might be printed on the front. Debit cards have different regulations than gift cards.
I did tell her 2 $500 debit cards at the outset. But she was also helping out the other clerk, so she only paid enough attention to decide I shouldn't be using the cards. I never showed them to her -- she must have recognized them as I slid them in the reader.
