If you are on 24k, why should they promote you before you undertake the travel?

Or are you saying they should give you status based on a booked but untravelled flex ticket?
What's stopping you from booking enough flex tickets to achieve top status, then cancelling them all?
That doesn't make sense? If I book them and cancel them, I wouldn't fly, I wouldn't get to use any priority boarding etc.. !?
