My interpretation is the same as yours. When I boil down the T&C, it seems that if the stay is eligible for MLife stay credits, it will be eligible for GP credits.
When I made my reservation, I asked about MLife credits and my stay was eligible. I will be on the casino rate but not comped. Comped stays don't count.
