Their business model is to shake down airlines for their "marketing data". If airlines choose not to bother, surprise surprise, their rankings suffer.

The Skytrax people appear every year at the Paris Air show, issue a press release, and wait for an offer from Google, Trip Advisor to be bought out.

People who think Skytrax ratings mean anything are quite deluded.
