I see your argumentation, Plancktons and it does make sense.

However, I can understand the other side as well. I have very often experienced, that housekeeping let the doors to rooms open and is not in this room themself but in other rooms. This mostly happened to rooms, which have been left but also to rooms which are still occupied by guests (returend to an upscale hotel and found my door open with nobody in it but housekeeping cleaning the rooms next to mine).
I also have noticed a few times that a housekeeping supervisor of a hotel opened all doors where the guest have left to 'mark' this rooms to housekeeping as ready to clean. In so far, I do not think, they have "sticky fingers" but it just happened than one could enter in the room.

Therefore, I wanted to know, if the item I have left was found (let aside that I never know for sure where I left it, in the room, elevator, front desk, parking lot ...).

And thank you for the nice words about our pretty good standards in Germany ... (nice to see that people have some trust in my hoemcountry ^)
