It's certainly their right, but the CC already seems a generous gesture for the free nights. Diamond surely makes it even better. But to "squander" the one-time Diamond trail if you are only interested in those two free breakfasts once.
I think you are making an overly broad assumptions.
I've stayed in maybe 10 different hyatts in the last few years, two this year so far - San Diego and Seattle- but always book through hotels.com for the free night every ten. I have three free nights banked now from multiple trips at various brands.
I'm writing this from whitefish lodge in Montana and am staying in five different hotels on this trip and going to Boston next week. Why would you assume we are all just scheming Hyatt?
I just tend to pick by location without much regard to brand, as long as its good.
Hyatt will make out fine if I decide to diamond challenge (even if I do some of it with a mattress run) as I will start booking through Hyatt directly and pick their brand.
It seems like this is exactly why they have a cc and a diamond challenge.
There are plenty of people on here that will waste an hour to get 500 miles on some silly airline internet promotion, I'm not sure what the attitude is in this thread. At least I'm not faking a Australian visa card to get status
