As I said, some may indeed share the session, but there are ways around that to prevent problems, or flag if another window has changed something.
I was just suggesting what might have happened, but it looks like you'd already considered the same thing.
I completely agree that sites nowadays should be built in such a way that this does not happen - it looks like BA's booking system is not one such site.
Unfortunately getting someone at BA that will understand the issue before you flight will be nigh on impossible.
