I think this may be a very important point worthy of repeating. Not being able to board the flight because of differing interpretation of the rules is one thing. Being found to be out of status by the CBP and be subject to deportation and associated hassles is a whole different burrito!

If I may recast the question, would anyone in their right mind stay on in a foreign country after their passport has expired?
