Yes, but the risk would be that if IROPs occur, you're not protected with two tickets. You might not be able to check bags through. Finally, if the carrier doesn't allow nested tickets in its CoC, the TWOV issue would call attention to this and could potentially result in your being required to buy an expensive walk up combined ticket.
