Well that's a tough one.. I generally go for bulkhead seats myself on the 777 which also have really good leg room.. I did not look at any exit row seats on the 787 but I did notice the leg room looked great in the front bulkhead row of coach (I was seated in the last row of business and I took a look in back). The flight experience on the 787 is nicer in terms of quietness, humidity, lighting, lavs, but the extra inch of width on a long flight IMO trumps the rest. If you think about it it's actually 2 extra inches if you consider that both you and your neighbor both get an extra inch. If no one sits next to you or if the person is tiny then it doesn't really matter but there's risk.

If you take the 787 you should check out the lav by door 2L..it's a business lav but worth looking at... it's handicap accessible and it's huge.
