This. And not only business fliers. The whole point about *A being great is that... wait for it... you can fly a lot of different airlines! The people who will be hit hardest by the new rules are not the ephemeral $8K PQD 1ks, but those who log in a lot of miles on *A tickets that do not start with 016.
People here talk about switching to AA/DL/AS/whatever, but I bet many would consider switching to a partner *A FF program. CPUs are overrated and an annual E+ subscription can be had for about the price of U Club membership that would be free with *G. Companion Club and E+ benefits would be the biggest loss, but only if you actually fly UA much with family.
