Ummmm if the ship spends most of its time away from land, does that mean there is no access to cell towers on land? so would the only way be via a satellite link/phone? as the ship probably uses satellite itself when out in the ocean....?

Does anyone know if satellite phones can be rented and if so, are the rentals and usage still exorbitantly priced?
