Last minute LON-NYC Reward flights with BA/AVIOS
Hello,
Looking for some thoughts and guidance on this...
I'm flying out to New York in July on work, and I'd like to bring my wife along for a week at the end of the trip. My flights are already booked through work.
I'm curious about whether BA tend to open up reward flights to NYC near the time of flying, their website at the moment is a bit all over the place and the reward flight availability changes almost hourly.
At the moment I can get her a return flight (JFK - LHR) any day of the month, on about 6 different flights a day, but there are hardly any outbound flights, and none on the week we are looking at. As a Slight novice to reward flights this seems odd to me, unless half the UK is emigrating to the US in July....
So I guess the question is, with a route like New York, where there are lots of flights by BA and AA every day, do reward flights tend to pop up near the day of travel, or should I bite the bullet and pay full fare for the outbound, and use points for the return leg?
Looking to travel on the week beginning 22nd July if that helps
Thanks.
