10,000 points is worth at the very least $100. In most case worth way more. I'd go with the 10,000 points.
It all depends on your situation. My family currently has plenty of miles in multiple MP accounts so really not need the 10K to top off for any awards. And of course, I can always call retention again 6 months from now and perhaps ask for 15K instead.
