I just did a quick search and they have low availability for 3 people flying out of JFK. You should be able to go from FLL to JFK with low availability and then go on the NY route. At least I think that should work. I am still fairly new at this also. They actually had 4 seats available so that could cover everyone if I am not mistaken.
